About us
Between 1910 and 1920, foreign traders in Mongolia used to transport goods by automobile on the main routes and did not pay any taxes. Therefore, the People's Government approved the customs regulations in October 1921, and the above-mentioned transportation was regulated. At the end of 1922, at the initiative of General D. Sukhbaatar, a car garage with 10 cars was established under the Ministry of War and funds were provided for the purchase of more. In 1924, the newly established Ministry of Labor and Mutual Aid Cooperatives acquired a number of cars and began to carry out short-distance transportation. By decision of the People's Government, the "Steam Carriage Registration Office" was established in 1924, and the "Mongolian Freight Forwarding Office" was established on July 15, 1925, and this day is celebrated as the day of the birth of the motor transport sector in Mongolia.

From 2024, the Public Transport Policy Department - The structure and staffing limits of the “Public Transport Policy Department” were established by the Decree of the Capital Governor No. A/443 of 2024, and the organizational charter was approved by the Decree of the Capital Governor No. A/536 of 2024. Currently, the Public Transport Policy Department operates with 9 departments and 350 staff.
