The work of ensuring implementation within the framework of medium-term and long-term goals and strategies of the capital's public passenger transportation sector, determining the travel demands and needs of citizens, and creating and developing an efficient network will be organized within the framework of legislation.

In Ulaanbaatar, where 49 percent of Mongolia's population lives, as of 2025, public transportation services are provided daily on 121 main and suburban routes, with 19 businesses and organizations operating 1,200 buses on weekdays and 925 buses on weekends, ensuring normal and uninterrupted daily service with double-decker, large- and medium-capacity buses.

TYPES OF PASSENGER TRANSPORT IN ULAANBAATAR

As of 2024, a total of 1278 large-capacity buses were registered, of which 1055 were diesel buses, 80 were new electric buses, 10 were double-decker buses, 43 were minibuses, 68 were medium-capacity buses, and 252 were taxis, of which 226 were LPG-powered, and 26 were gasoline-powered.

As of 2024, there were 2145 large-capacity buses, 37 were express buses, and 252 were taxis registered in the total registration base.

NUMBER OF PUBLIC TRANSPORT ROUTES

As of 2025, large, medium, minibuses, and small-capacity buses are providing daily public transport services in 121 routes. Of these, 104 are main routes and 17 are suburban routes. The total length of the routes is 914.3 km.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT PARKING

Public transport services have 3 main components: roads, parking lots, and vehicles. Currently, there are a total of 1,280 parking lots in use in public transport services, of which 126 are registered as terminal, 64 in the city center, and 62 in the suburbs.
